Most visitors to Secret Beach (Kauapea Beach) in Kauai head to the right, down the long, sandy expanse of beach. But if you go left across the lava rocks you will find a secret lagoon with several waterfalls.
Some visitors compare the spot to Queen’s Bath tide pool, but bigger and better.
Check ocean conditions before you go in the lagoon. Like Queen’s Bath, summer months are a much better time to visit as winter months can bring dangerous conditions to the lagoon. The lagoon can completely disappear during winter months. But anytime can be a dangerous time in this area. Even during calm seas, rogue waves can wash over the rocks and into the lagoon. Exercise extreme caution if visiting this area.
